I’m a little more than one hour into Final Fantasy XIII, and I must say, it’s been pretty underwhelming so far. The animations are great, and the voice acting is good, you can easily tell the difference between the core and minor roles though, some of that has been dodgy. The story hasn’t come together yet, but I wouldn’t really have expected it to at this point, but it doesn’t seem like its going to be all that involved.

Combat has been bland, pretty much just mashing auto attack so far with a hint of potion scattered (but very rarely), I’m hopeful this is going to pick up sooner rather than later, and I’m ready to learn about the character improvement stuff…

The tutorials have been effective though and do seem to include nuggets for long time players of the franchise, such as, don’t let your party leader KO…

The music is not as catchy or as whimsical as I would have liked either but it is very well done regardless.

I also may have a bit of a crush on Lightning shh don’t tell. Oh well back to it!
