As you may or may not know, I like to get into an indie game every now and then… Steam is real good at convincing me to pick them up via a sale or what not. I don’t usually finish them (except world of goo, that was my game of the year one year, if you haven’t played it, you really should), but I have my fun with them and they generally only cost $10 or so. I live by the mantra there are very few games that aren’t worth $10 to me.
This was a good week for that for me, I picked up a couple really really great ones, so I thought I’d share…
Shatter came out for PC this week, it’s been out for some time on PSN but it’s not the kind of game that I’d really play on the console… despite it looking, and sounding incredible. It’s a breakout style game but you’re given the power to “suck” or “blow” into the field of play to collect shards, and or loose block (bad thing), and redirect the ball. On top of that, there are boss battles… very neat. According to steam i’ve got about 40 minutes into this one so far, but I can’t wait to get back to it. $9.99 on Steam.
I put an hour into Saira last night… I’m really impressed so far. Something about the sets and the music really sucked me in… there are some neat mechanics for puzzle solving, and neat controls for interesting platforming puzzles in the short bit of the game I’ve seen. I’m told its metroidvanian, but this early in the game, it remains to be seen, but even still, it’s on sale for 8.99$ on steam this week… I’d recommend it as well.
